Jacob in the Bible wrestled with God and prevailed. We can come to a place where we are able to prevail with God and our prayers are answered.

To do this, we must walk in faith and pray in faith.

God rewards those who seek Him diligently.

Secondly, we must pray in the will of God.

The best way to do this is to pray a positional pattern of prayer or to pray in the Holy Ghost.

John Wesley tells us in his journal of a deliverance in 1756. The king of England called for a day of solemn prayer and fasting because of a threatened invasion by France.

Wesley wrote: “The fast was a glorious day, such as London has scarce seen since the restoration. Every church in the city was more than full, and a solemn seriousness sat on every face. Surely God heareth prayer, and there will yet be a lengthening of our tranquility. He added later in a footnote: “Humility was turned into national rejoicing for the threatened invasion by the French was averted.”

There are 31 Proverbs and 150 Psalms. By reading one Proverb and five Psalms each day, you will read these two books through every month.

Whatever the day’s date is, read that Psalm and that particular Proverb. If today is the first of the month, then you would read Psalm 1; then add 30 and read the 31st Psalm; add 30 and read Psalm 61 and then Psalm 91 and 121. By adding 30 to the next chapter, you read five Psalms each day. Then you would read Proverbs 1. If today is the 10th of the month, you read the 10th Psalm and Proverb.

If you read the Bible systematically, God will speak to you every day.

Doing something when you feel like it is not how the world functions. We don’t go to work when we feel like it. We don’t get up when we feel like it. We don’t even eat when we feel like. Life is run on schedules.

Does everyone in the world get hungry at the exact same time, 12 noon? No. We have scheduled noon as the appointed time to eat regardless if we are hungry or not. There’s a time for school. There is a time for your favorite television program. Why shouldn’t there be a time to pray?

It is broken into six different categories that meet every basic need of a person’s life. Use this pattern to pray daily.

1. Praise
“Our father which art in heaven hallowed be thy name.”

2. Priority
“Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”

3. Provision.
“Give us this day our daily bread.”

4. Pardon.
“Forgive us of our sins is as we forgive others who sin against us.”

5. Power
“Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”

6. Praise.
“For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”

The baptism of the Holy Spirit releases power in our lives. It gives us power to be soul winners. We can stand in all types of situations, and the Holy Spirit will give us guidance and direction.

I want to proclaim today that we are our brother’s keeper. God has called us all as soul winners.

The Bible answers this question in Chronicles.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14).

If you want to hear from heaven, the Bible says to humble yourselves and pray. The word “humble” is an Old Testament word that denotes fasting.

If we will fast and pray, God guarantees that we will hear his voice.
