“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised” (Luke 4:18).

The baptism of the Holy Spirit releases power in our lives. It gives us power to be soul winners. We can stand in all types of situations, and the Holy Spirit will give us guidance and direction.

I want to proclaim today that we are our brother’s keeper. God has called us all as soul winners.

Here are seven great Scriptures for winning souls: Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, John 3:3, John 14:6, Romans 10:9-10, 2 Corinthians 5:15, Revelation 3:20.

Rita Springer coming to Evangel on Jan. 27

Rita Springer is coming to Louisville.

Singer/songwriter Rita Springer will be coming to Evangel World Prayer Center for Chic Night, an evening of worship for women presented by Women on the Way.
Springer is an internationally-known worship leader with a strong anointing.

The free event is set for Friday, Jan. 27, at 7 p.m. at the Billtown Campus. Those who arrive by 6:30 p.m. will be eligible to enter into a drawing for a prize.

Hearing from God

I often hear the question: How do you hear from God?

The Bible answers this question in Chronicles.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14).

If you want to hear from heaven, the Bible says to humble yourselves and pray. The word “humble” is an Old Testament word that denotes fasting.

If we will fast and pray, God guarantees that we will hear his voice.

A Place To Pray

God places great importance on certain places. Jesus instructed 500 people to go to the upper room to tarry for the Holy Spirit’s coming. Only 120 obeyed.

The same takes place in prayer. Find a place of solitude to seek God each day.

You will not pray about some things if someone else is in the same room. Find a place where you can meet God every day. Let me share five tips for your secret place with God.

Have a place where you can play music.
Keep a notebook so you can document the words that the Holy Spirit speaks to your heart.
Expect the Holy Spirit to meet you in your secret place.
Allow God to speak to you through His word.
The time you spend in your secret place reveals the amount of desire you have for God’s presence in your life.

Each location is set up with a Welcome Center. There you will find additional information on all of the ministries of Evangel. On Sunday mornings we have a 9:00 a.m. worship service at both locations. In addition, we have a 10:30 a.m. worship service that is broadcast live (WBNA -TV21) at Minors Lane. At Billtown Road we have an 11:00 a.m. worship service, 1:00 p.m. worship service and a 5:00 p.m. worship service.
